Denis Grozdanovitch's latest book, "La gloire des petites choses" (The Glory of Small Things) things" (Grasset) what made the charm of the former texts, from "le petit traité de désinvolture" 20 years ago, to "Génie de la bêtise" (2017), via "l'art difficile de ne presque rien faire" (2009). Namely, this bittersweet tone, this joyful irony, the ambiguous expression of his anachronistic relationship with the world. He surfs on the contemporary, distrusts it, highlights its distressing weaknesses, but he also knows how to make the most of it, to make it the substance of his opuscules. He is sarcastic in the same way that he has been a champion in tennis, squash, or today in chess: without cheating, to the hilt, but always as a gifted amateur.
