Only five kilometres from the walled city of Navarrenx, the small village of Gurs has two picnic areas. One is located in the public square in front of the town hall and the second is at the crossroads, rue des Pyrénées on the RD 836 / route de Dognen (RD 114). Not far away, you can visit the camp of Gurs, a former French internment camp created in March 1939. This great place steeped in history was one of the largest internment camps in the south of France. On the spot, the reception building, the national memorial, the memory trail and the cemetery are to be discovered.
