How to come to Béarn des Gaves ?

As the old adage goes, all roads lead…
to Béarn des Gaves!

BY CAR

(or motorbike!)

Prefer having the freedom to go where you want, when you want ? Great idea – the Béarn is perfect touring country!

We advise taking the motorway – two of them pass nearby: the A64 (exit 7 for Navarrenx, exit 8 for Salies-de-Béarn and Sauveterre-de-Béarn) and the A63 (exit 7 or exit 8)

BY TRAIN

Dislike driving long distances, prefer to relax on the way, or want to reduce your carbon footprint? Whatever your reasons, coming to Béarn des Gaves by train is perfectly feasible. And, while it might require a little more organisation than driving, you’ll discover Béarn des Gaves differently and in a more leisurely way. Be aware that there isn’t a lot of public transport here; however, car-sharing, taxis, electric bikes (from Salies-de-Béarn) and weekly excursions are all options for exploring the Béarnaise countryside.

For arriving and leaving, there’s a bus service linking the nearest train stations with Salies-de-Béarn (Casino bus stop) and Sauveterre-de-Béarn (Place Royale). For Navarrenx, you’ll need to take a taxi or car share.

Three stations serve Béarn des Gaves :

  • Dax (40 km). From there, there’s a bus link to Salies-de-Béarn (Casino) and Sauveterre-de-Béarn (Place Royale) : the Dax-Puyoo-Mauléon route.
  • Orthez (15 km). From there, there’s a bus to Salies-de-Béarn (Place Royale) : route 809 Orthez to Saint Palais operated by Transports 64.
  • Puyoô (8km). Two buses serve this station and Salies-de-Béarn (Casino) and Sauveterre-de-Béarn (Place Royale).
  • A regional bus: route Dax-Puyoo-Mauléon.
  • A departmental bus: the Transport 64 bus 809 Orthez to Saint Palais

Many people travel to Béarn des Gaves by plane.

From Pau airport (40km)

Then taxi
Or shuttle bus P20 Idelis between the airport and the SNCF station
Then : train, or bus 801 Pau-Orthez
Then bus 809 Orthez-Saint-Palais to reach Salies-de-Béarn (Casino) or Sauveterre-de-Béarn (Place Royale).

Or taxi to Navarrenx.

From Biarritz airport (60 km)

Then taxi
