Concert featuring Éloïse Cénac-Morthé (mezzo-soprano) and Samuel Jean (piano)
The Melodies of Duparc, one of France’s most important composers, a pupil of César Franck and heavily influenced by Wagner. His most famous works are 17 melodies set to poems by French authors such as Charles Baudelaire, Théophile Gautier and Leconte de Lisle, as well as by Goethe and Thomas Moore.
His musical interpretation of these texts makes this cycle a highlight of French vocal music. Mezzo-soprano Éloïse Cénac-Morthé performs them at Orion with all the elegance and refinement for which she is renowned on Europe’s major stages. This year you had the chance to hear her as a soloist at the New Year’s concert given by the Pau Pays de Béarn Orchestra. Here she is accompanied by Samuel Jean, artistic director of Les Pierres Lyriques and director of the Cité des Arts in Lescar
