The Place du Bayaà is the heart of Salies-de-Béarn, its nerve centre since the beginning of time. Under this square is the salt water spring around which the entire old town was built. Then this spring was replaced by another one during the advent of thermalism. It opens again to the public since spring 2012 and the installation of the crypt which protects it. Many stories and legends illustrate the epic of salt water in Salies-de-Béarn.
