Did you know that salt, now a simple condiment, was, centuries ago, nicknamed white gold. A salary, that tells you something: well, in the old days, Roman soldiers received a ration of salt as compensation. At the Salies de Béarn saltworks, you will discover the whole process of making this famous white salt, 100% natural, which comes from the bowels of the earth. 2000 tons of coarse salt and fleur de sel are harvested each year. You take part in the packaging of your fleur de sel and create your own label.
