Rock salt from Salies-de-Béarn, labeled IGP since 2016, has been exploited for millions of years. Today, very popular with great chefs, it is also the only salt that can be used by salt workers to obtain the PGI Jambon de Bayonne. Sold in small packaging, it also knows how to make a place for gourmets on the table.
The current extraction of this salt is explained to you from a belvedere overlooking the Salines exploitation center in Salies-de-Béarn. An adjacent museum center will tell you about the millennial history of this salt and its production through an interactive visit.
